SuperMax® Cigarette Machine FAQ's
Which size cigarettes does the Supermax® make?
The Supermax makes both 100MM and King size cigarettes.
How do I use the Supermax cigarette machine?
- Make sure the crank arm is in the correct position (refer to Owner’s Manual).
- Slide a filter tube onto the nozzle.
- Fill the corners with tobacco first, then deposit the rest of the tobacco evenly in the tobacco chamber.
- Grasp the grip handle for stability while rotating the crank arm clockwise in a smooth, continuous motion, then counterclockwise back to its home position. Remove the cigarette from the nozzle.
- To make 100MM cigarettes, remove the magnetic size adjustment tab. Leave in place for King size.
How do I clean the Supermax cigarette machine?
The cigarette machine should be cleaned frequently to keep it in proper working order.
-
- Rotate the crank handle assembly (SM223) several times without any tobacco in the machine to remove excess tobacco from the tobacco chamber. With the crank handle assembly in the open position, take a cotton swab with warm water to clean the injector (SM201), tamper (SM210), tobacco chamber and nozzle.
- Turn the machine over and remove the slip resistant mat (SM225) on the bottom of the machine. Blow tobacco residue from moving parts using a can of air, vacuum,
- Lubricate all moving parts frequently with a multipurpose household oil such as WD-40, 3-in-one, or cooking oil. Use a paper towel or cotton swab to apply the oil. Do not use any oil inside the tobacco chamber.
How do I fix a jam?
Prevent jamming the device by avoiding tobaccos that are overly moist such as pipe tobacco, overly dry, and/or very fine cut. If your tobacco is not an issue, there could be a few other reasons your machine is jamming.
Tobacco troubleshooting:
-
- Too moist: if the tobacco is too wet, you can dry it by letting it sit out for a short period of time. Set out only as much as you plan to use in one sitting for 30 minutes to 1 hour at a time. Any time beyond that may cause your tobacco to become too dry.
- Too dry: if the tobacco is too dry, take a wedge of apple, orange peel, a piece of bread or a damp paper towel and put it in with the tobacco to moisten it.
- Too fine: if your tobacco is too fine, buy another bag and mix the two together. Be sure to mix your tobacco before each use to keep all of the fine tobacco from falling to the bottom.
Other troubleshooting:
-
- If the injector (SM201) is bent or narrowed, it will need to be replaced. Please contact our Service Center or place an order here.
- The tamper (SM210) could be out of alignment. First, try cleaning your tamper and housing unit. Remove the brass nuts (SM211) and hex screws (SM220) from the machine and slide the link assembly (SM218) up. When you slide the link assembly, the tamper (SM210) will come with it. Remove the link assembly from the tamper and use a cotton swab and warm water or rubbing alcohol to clean it. Use the same method to clean the chamber where the tamper sits. When you put everything back together the tamper should realign itself. If cleaning does not resolve your issue or the tamper is worn, it will need to be replaced.
- The flat head screw (SM013) may need to be adjusted. If the injector lever assembly (SM016) is not sliding smoothly across the silver metallic channel where the injector (SM001) is positioned, it should be adjusted. Turn the flat head screw until it is snug but not tight. After adjusting, oil moving parts with a multipurpose household oil such as WD-40, 3-in-one, or cooking oil.
My machine is releasing filter tubes early. How do I adjust?
The best way to confirm that your machine is releasing the filter tubes early is to make a cigarette. Hold the rubber cover next to the nozzle with your finder while injecting tobacco into your filter tube. If you can make some good cigarettes this way, the following adjustment will need to be made. You may have to play with the adjustment a little while to get it right, so please be patient.
-
- Remove the slip resistant mat (SM225) from the machine.
- In the corner where you put your tubes on the machine, you will find the insert nut (SM202).
- Turn the insert nut clockwise a hair and try the machine. You may need to turn it a few more times to get it in the right place.
My filter tubes are ripping at the tip / taking a notch off the end. How do I fix this?
This happens when your machine holds your tube a fraction of a second too long. To fix this, please do the following:
-
- Remove the slip resistant mat (SM225) from the machine.
- In the corner where you put your tubes on the machine, you will find the insert nut (SM202).
- Turn the insert nut counterclockwise (loosen) a hair at a time and it will stop the machine from tearing the tip off the end of the tubes.
My tubes are not getting filled all the way to the filter. How do I fix this?
There could be several different reasons this is happening.
-
- Your cigarette machine might need to be cleaned to remove all tobacco residue. (See Cleaning Machine)
- You are using a tobacco that is not compatible ie. pipe tobacco or tobacco that is overly moist, dry or fine. (See Jamming Machine)
- The machine could be releasing your cigarette tubes too early. (See Releasing Cigarette Tubes Early)
How do I remove the handle?
First, remove the rubber mat (SM225) then remove the 3 screws on the handle assembly (SM227). After the screws are removed, flip the machine over, grip the handle firmly, and twist it to the left. It will loosen and you will be able to remove it from the machine.
